There are so many breeds out there and we all know we have the smartest dog, or do we? Just how do researchers figure out whose the smartest dog? Well, research of course, and a few tricks. Can the dog learn a new trick in less than five repetitions and can they perform that at least 95% of the time? Some people think if they're dog is obedient, they are smart. However, that's not the criteria, in fact, the smartest dogs may get into some trouble. Take the Border Collie, considered the smartest dog according to psychology professor and neuropsychological researcher Stanley Coren, Ph.D., author of the best-selling book "The Intelligence of Dogs."
If a Border Collie and some of the other smart dogs we have get bored, you may get some things destroyed. Exercise and mental stimulus is the answer. The smart dogs don't wait happily at the door for hours waiting for you to get home. You might want to have someone take your dog for a walk during the day or some play time at lunch time Boredom means trouble!
